Over the years I have had many opportunities to join portfolio sites for many different reasons. I joined some simply to get a back link to my site, which increased my Google ranking. I joined others to give me some exposure or some sort and I joined others simply to network and show some love. Well PNW is one site that offers all of these features plus more, I will be reviewing other sites soon also.
I think PNW (Premium Network Worldwide) was the most affordable creative site of its kind. It has clearly miles cheaper than creativeshake.com and theispot.com, one of which I have joined to my detriment.
PNW is very unique because it is very easy to upload images and manage your portfolio, with a simple drag & drop type feature to help you to put things in a specific order. They are also taking the limit off the number of portfolios you can add to your profile, so you will be able to add work continually which is great.
If you really are looking for a site that goes beyond the normal, then think about the following. Once your up and running, the on-line team will take some time to send out email campaigns for you to a big database of well known clients. I suppose it makes marketing a lot easier, especially for newcomers who literally spend hours sitting in front of the computer sending out emails to any and everybody. I used to be one of those people, but I think for a low low fee (just $9) per month, you can get that done for you. What is even better than that is the teams new article writing service. This basically means that the on-line PNW team will dedicate some time to write an article about you and send them out to hundreds of article directories. I had the pleasure of checking this out I by typing in 'Andre Junget'. To my surprise the articles that were written by him showed up at least 8 times on the first page. It made me wonder, hey? I think this could be a serious promotional service here.
The email shots are sent out periodically to many high profile clients, with a thumbnail image of your work and a link back to your profile. Not bad for 5 ($9) a month!!. I am actually a freelance illustrator and I have had the misfortune of joining a number of high profile portfolio sites which did not offer any of these marketing services, for 8 times the price!!!.
Of course you get the usual video uploads etc, but if your looking for an extra income you can sell your art from your profile page. Or if your are a Twitter fan you can link your activity to your profile for people to be updated. RSS feeds can also be displayed.
If you like to keep people informed about your career or random thoughts, you can post blogs from your profile.
It is ridiculous how many things are available to subscribers for the money, especially after what I paid previously. If you get chosen for the 'blog of the month' award or if you are interviewed, they will send you an Itunes or Amazon gift voucher worth about 10. Other reviews coming soon
